Summer harvest in colonial Tasmania. On a pastoral run to the west of Hobart Town, a toil-worn barley farmer relaxes in the afternoon sun.
Harvest work is laborious and heavy, but this generous crop is his best yet. Wordlessly, he gives thanks for the pristine, cool water that cascades from Mount Wellington, the pure, cool air and the life-giving land. Most of his golden grain has been carted to the brewery, with just enough kept back for his own special brew - a harvester's delight in a distinctive European style! Tonight this homespun lager will be enjoyed at Hobart's traditional community celebration.
