BASIC INGREDIENTS NEEDED
- Cascade Premium Home Brew Extract - 1.7 kg can
- Cascade Yeast - 7 gram sachet (under the lid)
- White table sugar or dextrose (glucose) - 1 kg (or a special mix from your local home brew shop)
- Tap water - boiling and cool
EQUIPMENT NEEDED (purchase from a home brew shop)
- Fermenter 30 litre - sealed with a lid and an airlock (with rubber grommet) - add a sediment reducer to the tap - use only a fermenter designed for brewing
- Plastic pitcher - 2 litre
- Thermometer - 15-30°C - try an adhesive strip from a home brew shop
- Hydrometer - this is a very important measuring instrument, purchase is highly recommended
- Spoon, long handled for stirring and a measuring teaspoon
- Bottling valve - it makes bottling a lot easier than using a siphon
- Beer bottles - 375mL (60) or 750mL (30) check that there are no cracks or chips; click to view safety information
- Crown seals
- Crown sealer applicator
- Heating or cooling if fermenting in rooms outside 18-30°C
